The New Zealand Embassy in Berlin is seeking a
Policy and Public Affairs Assistant.
Are you highly motivated, organised and looking to make a key contribution to a busy multicultural team?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to promoting New Zealand’s relationship with Germany, as well as advancing New Zealand’s relations with the Czech Republic, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. In this busy position, you will support the Post’s work with a range of Embassy contacts in the public and private sector.
It is a fast paced and multifaceted job in a dynamic environment. The New Zealand Embassy is looking for a focused, organised self-starter with a strong sense of commitment and loyalty. Excellent German and English language ability is essential for this role. Your first-rate research and critical analysis skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, will be key to your success.
You will assist with research, analysis, policy reports and briefings. You will help to lead the Embassy’s communications strategy, including through use of social media. You will assist with public affairs and profile-raising events and activities that promote New Zealand’s interests. You will also help with miscellaneous administrative duties.
Applicants should hold an appropriate tertiary qualification (Bachelor level). Previous work experience in related field preferred, though not required.
Annual starting salary for the position will be between EUR 35,800 and EUR 42,000 dependent on skills and experience.
The successful applicant will be employed on local terms and conditions and must have the right to work in Germany. Obtaining and maintaining the appropriate working visa is the responsibility of the applicant and any offer of employment is subject to this. In addition relocation to Berlin is to be undertaken at the expense of the applicant.
